TRUCKEE, Calif. – Papoose Preschool & Infant Care, Truckee’s only 5 Star and Eco-Certified Preschool, recently completed their cross-town move to a remodeled house on five forested acres. In keeping with their eco-friendly policy, Papoose immediately sought assistance from the Truckee Donner Public Utility’s conservation program on updating the lighting for the business. Scott Terrell and Jake Sumervell of Summit Electric worked with Papoose to find an affordable, green solution to the preschool’s needs.”As a small business we have to watch every expense, including our electric bill,” said Mike Kahlich, Papoose co-owner and teacher. “Since we are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, we have unique energy needs for a business and Scott Terrell really helped us out. He allowed me to test nine different LED and CFL light bulbs in our home to see which kind of light would best meet the needs of our large family daycare and preschool. Not only will the dimmable LED’s save us money, but they look sharp and as a green daycare we strive to re-use and conserve energy in every aspect of our business.”To find out more about Papoose Preschool & Infant Care, a quality “5 Star” and Eco-certified preschool, contact Dana Mudd of Papoose Preschool at 530-550-7506 or visit Currently, there is limited space available in both the award-winning preschool and infant/toddler programs. To find out more about how Truckee Donner PUD’s Conservation Program can assist your small business, contact Scott Terrell at or visit Contact Jake Sumervell of Summit Electrical Solutions at 530-414-1651.
