Performing arts comes to Commons Beach in Tahoe City

TAHOE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Tahoe City Downtown Association Presents an evening of performing arts at Commons Beach as part of its 2010 Heart andamp; Solstice Festival andamp;#8220;One Night Onlyandamp;#8221; Friday, June 18 t 6 p.m., pre-party at Corkscrews Wine andamp; Cheese Bar at 5 p.m., Commons Beach, Tahoe City.Local artists and organizations participating in andamp;#8220;One Night Onlyandamp;#8221; include Brother Loveandamp;#8217;s Tribute, Cindy Sabatini of Nevada Civic Light Opera, Tahoe Youth Ballet, RhythMatriX, and Mama Diva Theater Company, Christin Hanna andamp; Sierra Barter, among others. Ticket cost is preferred VIP seating (includes glass of champagne at pre-party) $25; general seating $20; free admission to public (no seating included) on lawn area. Tahoe City Downtown Associationandamp;#8217;s performing arts initiative was spearheaded by Directors Douglas Dale (owner, Wolfdaleandamp;#8217;s) and Christin Hanna (artistic director, Tahoe Youth Ballet) to create a greater awareness of the arts and the assets a healthy cultural community can do to benefit Tahoe City; both for its tourism and its enrichment of local lifestyle. Funds from the 2009 Bud Davis Memorial Abalone dinner were allocated to present performing arts within Tahoe City through the TCDA. The initial performance, andamp;#8220;One Night Only,andamp;#8221; was added to the TCDAandamp;#8217;s Heart and Solstice Festival, and will showcase local artists in disciplines of theater, music and dance and can be enjoyed from a front-row VIP seat or your very own picnic blanket.Director Christin Hanna is a native of Lake Tahoe. She has performed with an array of ballet companies throughout the United States. Upon returning to Lake Tahoe, Hanna founded Tahoe Youth Ballet with the goal to enrich the cultural and educational fabric of the region and has presented two first-rate performances in Tahoe City.
