Put a splash of color in your childand#8217;s summer in Tahoe City

TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; Kids Art Camp is a tradition during the summers at North Tahoe Arts. The program this year runs for three weeks from 9 a.m. to noon at Rideout Community Center. It is designed for children 5 to 12 years old. The Kids Art Camp team, Trudy Lesem, Sally Osborn and Jane Jenny are up to their creative tricks again this year and have new projects planned for the camp. They are excited about the collaboration with two new teachers too. Much of the camp takes place out doors and snacks are provided. Each week offers something different. Daily drop in spots are available on some days. Call the office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for details at 581-2787. The office and art center are closed on Tuesdays. The 2010 kids art camp is $130 per child per session, plus $20 materials fee, from 9 a.m. to noon, Session 1, July 5-9; Session 2, July 12-16; Session 3, July 19-23.

The free Kids Art Saturdays began in 2009. It pairs artists with children from 5 to 12 years old to work on an art project in the Loft on a Saturday between noon and 2 p.m. The days and the projects vary. Itand#8217;s a chance for children to work with an artist on a project to be taken home. Artists volunteer their time. Parents must remain with the children. Projects have included water painting, Valentine Cards, cartooning, fun with markers, Paint the Bear, and Christmas and Hanukah crafts. North Tahoe Arts tries to schedule a Kidand#8217;s Art Saturday once a month, so please e-mail info@northtahoearts.com to get the latest schedule.
