Is it fair to continually inconvenience the entire community of Tahoe Donner for the sole benefit of developer Donner Crest, LLC? For the past few months there have been continual road construction disturbances on Northwoods Boulevard. This is not a town development project that will benefit the citizens of Truckee, unlike the fast developing roundabouts on Highway 89. To the contrary, this is a private development that primarily benefits only the developer and not the community – and at what expense? Traffic delays have reached an intolerable level due to the ill-planned “road construction” conducted in both directions, thereby leaving only one lane available for the entire community. Traffic has been held for up to 15 minutes causing significant gridlock. In contrast, there have been minimal delays on Highway 89 during the more extensive roundabout construction. Obviously this project was well thought out, with the traffic needs of our community being considered. We wish to remind the developer that they are impinging on the public domain and welfare of all residents of Tahoe Donner. The least they could do is to offer some sign of appreciation for the inconvenience they are causing Tahoe Donner residents and consider more efficient “road construction” planning in the future. Many thanks to all volunteers and sponsors of this event! Because of you, the North Tahoe Music Departments are guaranteed another extremely successful year! Doug GreenwoodTahoe City
