This is an open letter to Placer County Supervisor Bruce Kranz. After so many years of public participation, Kings Beach community involvement, expert advice and, finally, proposed redevelopment please explain how you have come to the conclusion you did at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency meeting last week.
As I was out of town and unable to attend, the news that has come my way is devastating and confusing. I attended so many meetings where you preached about how consensus on the North Shore meant 51 percent and so on. This project as it stood recommended from yours and my county staff people had the support of two-thirds of the community. It received unanimous support from the two board hearings before the TRPA and now, for some reason you have decided to completely go against the recommendations of this community, your DPW staff members, and the Placer County Planning Commission.
Traffic was not a project goal and never should be. We have much bigger issues than a little traffic 20 years from now on less than 30 days of the year. It is the locals who use the back streets most and we will work on calming that traffic as a community.
You have disappointed the downtown business owners who are actually going to be in business in five years and you have now delayed the proposed redevelopment that would have assisted the Kings Beach community economically prosper and thrive over the next 20 years.
