Readers Write: Must not stand

The democratic process was severely undermined on June 25 by Placer County Supervisor Bruce Kranz. By using a power play to call for a vote that rejected the three-lanes with roundabouts option, he instantly annihilated a common-sense, majority-approved, road-configuration plan that had the overwhelming support of every public organization that had anything to do with it. Is this a power trip? I don’t get it. It’s not supposed to work this way. As a public elementary school teacher, I frequently express to my students my enthusiasm for America’s democratic system of government. Now, all of a sudden, I’m a complete cynic. How can I cover up my disgust and sense of betrayal and not poison my innocent charges? This is an extremely unhealthy situation in which we find ourselves in Kings Beach. This ruling must not stand. A town is a terrible thing to waste.
