Readers Write: Succinct reasons

In regards to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s decision concerning the Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project on June 25: I feel it is the responsibility of each of the Governing Board members who voted not to endorse the staff-recommended three-lane alternative, to explain their reasons for doing so. This project has undergone exhaustive public procedural due process the past five years. It has been thoroughly discussed, examined, re-worked, re-examined, commented-on, comments responded to, etc; and is basically considered the biggest issue here since Joe King supposedly won this place in a poker game. The mobilization of the citizenry on both sides of the issue is unprecedented, the potentially negative economic impact on this struggling community is immense, and the obscure reasoning of the no-votes towards TRPA’s mission, all demand that those that did vote no, should provide us with succinct reasons for doing so.
