Readers Write: The need for introspection

In this presidential election, the Democrats refuse to discuss the root cause of social unrest in the U.S. Our nations’ unrest is due to the increasing domination of the rights of capital over all human rights. The reason for this is that such a discussion goes against corporate interests and the core of American culture. The core of America culture is in need of a deep national introspection.

In America, we are experiencing an extreme shift from the basic rights of adequate food, shelter, education and health care to the priority of military power to expand the rights of corporate capital all over the world.

The rights of capital has made the U.S. a war mongering nation, waging war in the interests of Wall Street, multi-national U.S. corporations, and a very profitable defense industry. The overwhelming power of the institutions of capitalism has imprisoned the U.S. Congress.

Americans have been duped in this war against terrorism. It is not a war to defend American freedom and democracy, but a war against the weak to protect the rights of the strong.

U.S. corporate capitalism apparently knows no end to the lust for greed and power. A vibrant democracy is the only viable force to check the unjust forces of capitalism. Unchecked, the forces of corporate capitalism becomes the enemy of democracy.

The U.S. is experiencing massive global “blow-back” from American foreign policy. It is a foreign policy all about sustaining the rights of global corporate power. In doing so, Western capitalism is planting the seeds of its own destruction.

The new spirituality of the 21st Century is a spirituality of liberation, a force never to be conquered by military power.
