Rebel Fitness Academyand#8217;s fall line up kicks off with an educational series for adults and teens. The first two events focus on nutrition and healthy living, and the third event hones in on safe and precise kettlebell technique designed to get you ready to attack the steeps in the least amount of time.



Nutrition and healthy living

On Wednesday, Sept. 12 Rebel Fitness Academy welcomes registered dietitian Maria Martin who is passionate about helping people develop a healthy relationship with food. She will speak on the value of sports nutrition, fat burning and healthy meals at 6 p.m.



and#8220;Establishing healthy eating regimes is the best thing you can do to personally take charge of your own health,and#8221; said Martin. She explains sports nutrition is critical to becoming a more efficient fat burner. Martinand#8217;s work focuses on nutrition, weight management and food sensitivities. She is a wellness dietitian with Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance and established the Nutrition Coalition, which provides hands-on education to families and works to improve the quality of lunches in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.

Martin has more than two decades of practical experience and her academic training includes a bachelorand#8217;s degree in dietetics from the University of California at Davis and a masters in public health from the University of California at Berkeley. In conjunction with Martinand#8217;s informative talk there will be wholesome dinner snacks prepared by Kailiand#8217;s Creative Kitchen.

and#8220;We’ve created a snack menu that you can replicate at home for delicious meals before or after working out,and#8221; said Kaili Sanchez. There will be ample time for questions and discussion.

Rebeland#8217;s mission is rooted in Eganand#8217;s strong belief caring for your body will reveal the life purpose which you were meant to fulfill. The challenges of caring for oneand#8217;s body are often attributed to prioritizing time in addition to managing other priorities including family, work, volunteering and philanthropy.

On Sept. 19, Dr. Kim Bateman will provide an interactive workshop about celebrating your strengths and using them to actualize your values. Bateman, the dean of Sierra College, is known for her extraordinary teaching and facilitation skills.

The Kettlebell

How one exercise can make you stronger, more powerful and more athletic.

Egan is especially driven to share the benefits of kettlebell training because of its versatility, the potential to build high-level athleticism as well as being the most efficient all-purpose sport performance tool. As one of only 200 Certified Kettlebell Functional Movement Specialists worldwide, Egan provides a knowledgeable and safe environment in which to learn and harness the potential of developing crushing strength, explosive power and relentless endurance through kettlebell practice.

While the second and third events are offered at no cost to the community, attendees are invited to make a small or large donation to the High Fives Foundation.
