Remember Truckee schools on March 2

Proponents of Measure C – the latest effort to pass a $35 million bond issue to fund new construction at Truckee Schools, raised funds to support their campaign in the “Posh Pasta” event last weekend.

The well-attended event raised more than $3,100 to support the campaign drive, and the turnout from the community was commendable.

Perhaps voters realized this time that Truckee’s schools are in dire need of expansion and upgrade. The first attempt to pass a bond for the upgrades, Measure B, failed last April with a majority of votes, but short of the two-thirds vote required.

Funds from Measure C will upgrade schools throughout our town, as well as pay for the construction of a much-needed middle school campus.

Measure C will also require a two thirds majority to pass – and it is imperative that voters who support the expansion of Truckee’s schools turn out to show their support March 2.
