People going to see the unveiling of the renovated Chinese Herb Shop will get a taste of something extra: an art-opening next door.In celebration of the completed renovation of the Chinese Herb Shop, Truckee River Associates will host an opening of the work of six area artists in the renovated Sierra Garage, next to the Chinese Herb Shop.”It’s a beautiful environment to see the artwork in,” said Carole Sesko, an area artist who is helping to organize the show.Along with Sesko’s work the show will feature contemporary artwork by Sara Smith, Steve Rocker, Eve Warner, and Alexis Kelly that ranges from sculptures to murals.Anton Standteiner will also be showing a model of his sculpture for the Martis Outlook Project, a future development going in near the Truckee Tahoe Airport.”We think there are a lot of artists in Truckee, but there is no space to show their work,” said Carl Saimre of Truckee River Associates. The one-day event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. in the Sierra Garage next to the Chinese Herb Shop on the corner of South East River Street and Brockway Road.
