Rotary gifts appreciated

Jennifer Cannell, Executive Director

To the editor:

T.G.I.F. Counseling Center would like to thank the Truckee Sunrise Rotary and Noon Rotary for their generous donation of $1,000 each. The donations will support our peer educator program at Tahoe-Truckee High School. The program addresses issues that teens face today, such as violence, racism, stereotypes, oppression, tobacco, drugs and alcohol use and abuse.

Once the high school students have learned about the topic they go to the middle school and educate them. Youth are empowered to make positive healthy choices for themselves; thereby, becoming competent community members. The program builds the youth’s strengths and capabilities and views them as a resource in the education and prevention process.

The Rotary Club’s community involvement is appreciated, thank you for your continued support of local agencies.
