TRUCKEE, Calif. – Clarence – AS2 earned her wings this year by throwing a fabulous party at the Truckee Donner Senior Apartments Dec. 15 with many helping hands.Ten volunteers for the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe Community Footprints program helped set up and serve food, including appetizers, sandwiches and a marvelous squash soup.Leticia Aguilar and her band of singing, dancing elves, from her childcare business center entertained the crowd, as did piano man Frank the Glassblower and Craig Close, who sang Christmas carols.Sixty-five seniors were treated to gift bags stuffed with goodies collected by Clarence and the Ritz-Carlton. Rumor has it Clarence was up until the wee hours in preparation for the party.”It’s one of our favorite events,” said William Kamaka, director of HR at the Ritz-Carlton. “Each department sends one item for the gift bags, from food and beverage to hospitality.”Santa was escorted by the Truckee Fire Protection District, emerging from the engine to hand out gifts, listen to Christmas wishes and read “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” to the enraptured children.”Jesse (aka Clarence) did an awesome job,” said TDSA resident Karen Sterling. “I have five grandchildren and a great grandson – I feel so blessed.”Clarence would like to thank the following folks who brought magic into the hearts of many seniors that day: Optimist Club, Leticia and her magic kids; Robin and Bernie; Amy, camera bug; Santa and the Reindeer gang; Judy Stuart and her gang of mischief makers; Chris; BNI – oh my; Porter/ Simon; The Griffin Family Trust; The Magic Crew; Ritz-Carlton; Gratitudes; The TDPUD for Christmas lights; Stone’s Tire; and Sparky. For her good works, the Ritz-Carlton will treat Clarence to a lunch in Manzanita plus one, and a treatment in their sumptuous spa, including transportation.
