Second Annual Truckee RibFest: Why should your dad be a judge?

TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The second annual Truckee RibFest needs your dad as an official rib judge. Kids, write Switchback PR and tell them why your dad deserves to be an official rib judge this Fatherandamp;#8217;s Day. One lucky father will get to sample each vendorandamp;#8217;s ribs and will receive three additional Truckee RibFest general admission tickets, a $60 value.Submissions are due by Monday, June 13, and should be no longer than one page. The winner will be announced Thursday, June 16. Writers can mail, drop off submissions to Switchback PR+Marketing, Inc. at 10075 West River Street, Suite 206, Truckee, or via e-mail at ann@switchbackpr.com.The second annual Truckee RibFest is slated for Fatherandamp;#8217;s Day, Sunday, June 19, from 1-6 p.m. at Citizens Bank Plaza. Festivities also include a beer garden, bounce house and free live music.This fun and casual foodie event will offer folks a chance to sample delicious ribs prepared by the best chefs in the area andamp;#8212; a perfect afternoon outing for hungry dads and their family. Event organizers have lined up a number of excellent caterers and restaurants that will offer their own creative variations on ribs. The event will feature judging by industry professionals andamp;#8212; and one lucky dad andamp;#8212; for the best ribs in addition to a Peopleandamp;#8217;s Choice award.Truckee High School Boosters Club was selected to be the eventandamp;#8217;s nonprofit beneficiary. Truckee Boosters supports clubs and athletics at Truckee High through fundraising and volunteer support.Adult admission is $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the event. Admission includes entry, plus two food tickets. Each two-rib sampler costs two tickets. Tasty sides can be purchased for one ticket. Admission for children 12 and under is $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the event. Childrenandamp;#8217;s tickets include entry, access to a fun activity center, plus one special food ticket that can be redeemed for hot dogs, pizza and other kid-friendly options.
