Shop green during the holidays with Keep the Sierra Green’s updated website

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. and#8212; If shopping green for the holidays is on your list of things to do, check out Keep the Sierra Greenand#8217;s updated website and new feature: Shop Green.

At http://www.KeeptheSierraGreen.org learn which local businesses are participating in this voluntary sustainable green business program, how you can participate, and more. Thirty-eight business partners have qualified by demonstrating their efforts to minimize waste, conserve energy and water, and implement pollution prevention measures.

Keep the Sierra Green (KSG) is actively working to bring more businesses into the program and to bring awareness on what the program symbolizes. and#8220;It really has a twofold purpose,and#8221; said Lynne Cody Lacroix, Recycling Technician and KSG sponsor. They are: To bring credibility to businesses touting they are green, and to share with the public which businesses in the community are leading the charge in implementing sustainable practices.



There is a lot of green washing in the media and this can be confusing. and#8220;KSGand#8217;s intention is to demystify what sustainable means at the local level,and#8221; said Nichole Dorr, Town of Truckee recycling coordinator.
