Sierra Artists’ Network summer classes
Sierra Artists’ Network is offering a variety of summer workshops. The classes will all be held at the North Tahoe Art Center, 380 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City. For more information, call (530) 581-2787.
Beginning Scientific Illustration
This class for all ages with instructor Marya C. Roddis will be held Saturday, June 9, and Saturday, July 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
In this workshop, students will examine and reproduce scientific illustration, discussing basic anatomy.
This course is for students of both art and nature.
All levels of scientific inquiry and drawing skills are welcome.
Students will work in pencil, ink, watercolor and colored pencil. If weather permits, students will work in the field. The fee is $35 per class for nonmembers, $31.50 for SAN members.
A minimum class size is six students, a maximum is 14 students.
Materials are available for sale or a $14 fee.
In this workshop, June 14, 15 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., students will paint iris in the soft, wet-in-wet style with instructor Jan Foss.
Styles include negative painting, lost-and-found edges and other tricks unique to watercolor.
A different painting will be started each day and there will be a critique at the end of each day.
For the beginner or intermediate painter; bring a bag lunch.
The fee is $120 for nonmembers; there is a 10 percent discount to SAN members. Call for materials list.
Jan Foss has been painting watercolors for the past 16 years and teaching watercolor classes for 11 years.
Jazzy Jewelry Creations
The one-day class with Suzan Nibouar will be held Sunday, June 24. Nibouar will teach participants how to assemble jewelry, including pins and earrings.
The class will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. The fee, which includes materials, is $25 for nonmembers of Sierra Artists’ Network, with a 10 percent discount for members. Materials range from $20 to $50.
Color theory and application
This workshop for ages 12 and older with instructor Carol Schleicher will allow students to explore and experiment with color in acrylic or watercolor paints (student’s choice).
Workshops will be offered July 9, 16, 23 or August 6, 13, 20, Monday afternoons 1 to 4 p.m.
For a series of three classes, the fee is $60 for nonmembers, $54 for SAN members and $25 drop-in fee per class.
Materials can be purchased at class. A materials’ list will be supplied at registration.
