Sierra Quilting Camps offered in Truckee

Submitted to aedgett@sierrasun.comSierra Quilting Camps offers uninterrupted time to learn from sewing professionals and take an optional shopping trip or Lake Tahoe cruise.

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Sierra Quilting Camps hold three sessions of quilt camps at the Larkspur Hotel, 11331 Brockway Road, Truckee each summer. Bev Stookey and Linda Brush, both previous shop owners, present five-day quilt camps each July, August and September to ladies and gentlemen from Tahoe, Truckee, the Bay Area, the Mother Lode, Reno, Nev. and beyond.

Each teacher presents a quilt for the students to make but the campers have a choice whether to make these quilts or work on UFOs – UnFinished Objects. The time away from the phone and distractions plus people right there to do basics such as press fabric and rip seams with professional help readily available makes this a big hit.

This year the dates for Sierra Quilting Camps are July 11-15, Aug. 8-12 and Sept. 12-16.

Along with more than 24 hours of instruction, there is an optional shop hop in Reno, Nev. an optional Lake Tahoe Cruise, daily goodies and prizes, camp shirts and tote bags. Many campers have been coming for more than 10 years. The friendships are so special.
