TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Move over autos, Meals On Wheels is movin’ in. The nonprofit partner for the June 21 Truckee Thursdays is Sierra Senior Services, the little engine that supplies more than 24,000 nutritious meals annually to local seniors.

Stop by the booth for a chance to win golf for four at Northstar’s 18-hole course, a perfect way to welcome the summer solstice. The winning ticket will be drawn at the end of the evening; winner need not be present to win.

Get in on a chance to win a WAI SUP board through July 26, when the lucky raffle winner’s name will be pulled at the booth. The signature sponsor for the board is Martis Camp Community Foundation, along with special thanks to Tom at WAI, and Max at The Sports Exchange for making arrangements.

Sierra Senior Services offers senior nutrition programs, health and wellness seminars, gatekeeper services such as resource referrals and companionship, connections with youth clubs and area service clubs, fun activities like bingo, dances, music, arts and crafts, holiday celebrations throughout the year, library assistance, and overall help for the homebound. The pancake breakfast is held the first Sunday of every month in the Community Dining Room at the Truckee Donner Senior Apartments.

Community donations and support make our wheels go and#8216;round. Thanks to loyal supporters we have replaced old delivery cars with shiny new Subarus and received a delivery van last year from the Harrah’s foundation. Come see our wheels on display this Thursday.

Save the date for our collaborative evening with Project MANA on Sunday, Sept. 9, for an elegant taste of Spain with a paella dinner and flamenco guitars, sponsored by the Martis Camp Community Foundation! More details to come.

Join us for the third annual Grape Stomp held Friday, Oct. 5, 4 p.m., at Truckee River Winery, the night before Truckee’s annual Wine, Walk and Shop. It’s a local’s favorite time to dress up and get dirty. Join in the fun to help Stomp Out Hunger.
