Sierra Storm Quad Rugby fundraiser in Truckee

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Established in 1992, the Sierra Storm Quad Rugby team has always been extremely competitive. The team goal is to compete in the USQRA (United States Quad Rugby Association). The generous support of local businesses, organizations and individuals will help wheelchair athletics grow and succeed. Your donations will help pay for tournament expenses, membership in the USQRA, travel expenses, equipment, and uniforms. Sierra Storm Quad Rugby is asking friends in the community for help.

Wheelchair Rugby is a team sport in which players has some dysfunction in all four limbs; most players have sustained cervical spinal cord injuries. It is also one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world. There are currently more than 50 teams in the U.S. and 20 countries competing worldwide.

The team is made up of several players from Northern Nevada and California.

On Aug. 13, 9 a.m. meet at the Truckee Community Recreation Center in Truckee for a chance to see what it is all about. Put a team of four to five people together and have the chance to play against the Sierra Storm.

All proceeds go to support the Sierra Storm Quad Rugby Team in cooperation with the Sierra Challenge Athletic Association.
