SiGBA announces annual Green Building tour

The Sierra Green Building Association’s upcoming Green Building tour on Saturday, Oct. 6 event will feature five homes along Lake Tahoe’s north and west shores.

The event will begin and end at the 64-acre park in Tahoe City, behind the Bridgetender. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., opening remarks at 9:10 a.m., bus leaves at 9:15 a.m.

Cost for SiGBA members is $20, for non-members, $35. There will be a new member special offered for $60 includes tour and new membership. Lunch and transportation are provided.

Due to the amount of increasingly green homes being built in both Truckee and Lake Tahoe, the association has added the fall tour to north and west shores of the lake.

This year we will visit homes using straw bale, Photovoltaic systems, soy and denim insulation, energy star appliances, low VOC paints, FSC woods, local resources, earthen plaster, solar tube systems, solar hot water heater systems, native landscape design, and much more. Learn firsthand from the owners and professional design and building experts on why they build green and how you can too.

SiGBA is a local non-profit group of like-minded individuals and businesses committed to promoting a “Live Green -Build Green” philosophy.

As the Sierra’s leading green building resource and community education organization, SiGBA’s mission is to promote effective environmental design and sustainable practices in our community. For more information, visit http://www.SiGBA.org or call 1-877-SiGBA4U (744-2248).
