Special to the Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; Last summer when Jon Spaich learned he would need to relocate his Head North Ski Shop for the second time in three years, he reached out to Dave Wilderotter of Tahoe Daveand#8217;s. The two longtime, local Truckee businessmen came up with an ideal solution. They merged.

and#8220;Weand#8217;re thrilled to have such a local icon move in with us,and#8221; said Wilderotter. and#8220;Weand#8217;ve been able to expand our options with more selection of kidand#8217;s seasonal rental gear. As a bonus, we get Jon and the Head North staff helping out in our rental and tune-up shop.and#8221;

For Spaich, the option to merge with Tahoe Daveand#8217;s Skis and Boards was about more than just finding a place that would take on his inventory. and#8220;I really wanted to find another shop for our clientele that offered similar ideals as Head North,and#8221; said Spaich. and#8220;Tahoe Daveand#8217;s supports our community and local families and his entire staff shareand#8217;s our passion for great customer service and quality equipment at a fair price.and#8221;

and#8220;It was a difficult decision to close our shop,and#8221; said Spaich, and#8220;But Iand#8217;m very excited about this merger and I believe the increase in variety of equipment offered by Tahoe Daveand#8217;s will be a huge benefit to our community of young skiers and of course I get more time to ski!and#8221;

Tahoe Daveand#8217;s has four locations: Truckee, Kings Beach, Tahoe City and Squaw Valley. The shops specialize in ski and board rental and demo equipment including rental outerwear, cross country and snowshoes.
