TRUCKEE and#8212; Mark McCay-Moran has joined Spirit Interior Design and Gallery as senior designer and manager. McCay-Moran brings to the Spirit staff a multitude of talents and a diverse background. Trained in architectural design, he has focused primarily on designing ecologically sustainable single family homes, unique, dynamic interiors and commercial tenant improvement projects. He has also worked in the field of historic preservation and is able to harmoniously blend old with new, contemporary with rustic.

McCay-Moran specializes in developing three dimensional, and#8220;sculpturaland#8221; spaces; beautifying interiors by use of color, materials and lighting; and relating design elements and concepts to the existing environment and site conditions. His duties at Spirit Interior Design will include leading the design staff in conceptual design and material specification, working as a liaison to clients, vendors, and consultants; as well as managing the operations of the design studio.

A fifth-generation Californian, Mr. McCay-Moran is originally from the rural Santa Cruz Mountains near Los Gatos, Calif. Graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Environmental Design, he worked with a number of architects and interior designers before moving on the found his own award-winning firm, Nevada City Design Studio. He recently relocated to Truckee with his wife and three energetic boys. Inspired by a musical and artistic family, Mark plays a variety of musical instruments and enjoys skiing, hiking, yoga, painting and spending time with his family.
