Squaw Valley Institute presents: Doug Stoup and Friends experience Antarctica

Renown Adventurer Doug Stoup will talk about the vast and remote wilderness of the Antarctic Peninsula where he recently took 107 adventure-driven souls on a unique opportunity to trek, ski and snowboard several of the White Continentand#8217;s untamed peaks Feb. 18, 2010, Resort at Squaw Creek. No-host bar opens at 6:30 p.m., lecture begins at 7 p.m., $10 to Squaw Valley Institute. Children and students with ID are free.

The journey took them deep into the rugged landscape of one of earthand#8217;s last frontiers. Sailing past Cape Horn, across the Drake Passage and along the Antarctic Peninsula the group became intrepid travelers inspired by the legacy of Antarctic discovery.

Experience their adventure through the beautiful photography of Keoki Flagg and others. As the group traveled to a land covered by glaciers, never conquered by man, they passed through alleys of icebergs, where they studied the blue mystery of such extraordinary formations of nature. They explored harbors and bays while surrounded by clouds of seabirds. Witness the profound beauty and isolation of a land covered by ice. Hear stories about glaciers, calving and minke whales, black-browed albatross, snow petrels, penguins and seals. Ponder the complexity of the fragile and dynamic ecosystem of the Antarctic Peninsula.
