Sun takes home three state newspaper awards
The Sierra Sun won three awards in the California Newspaper Publishers Association 2000 Better Newspapers Contest, which honors the best in the state’s newspapers.
The awards were presented last weekend at the CNPA’s annual convention in Monterey.
The Sierra Sun’s sports writers won both first and second place in the category of Best Sports Story for weekly papers with a circulation of between 4,301 and 11,000.
Former Sierra Sun sports reporters Darin Olde and Bay Kelley were honored for their work.
The Sun also won second place in Display Advertising design for newspapers in its circulation division.
