Sunshine Letters | Kudos to the Truckee Tahoe community
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. – Once again, the Truckee Optimist Club has successfully raised significant profits through our annual Christmas tree sales. All of the proceeds from these sales will be used for scholarships and numerous sports and education program for our youth. This endeavor would not have been possible without the ongoing support and generosity of Save Mart Supermarkets.
Their generous donation of parking space in their shopping center made possible our successful endeavor.
Save Mart Supermarkets has a credo of “giving back to their communities” and this was a vivid display of that corporate belief and their effort to truly be a part of the community in which they do business. CVS Drugs has also been a sponsor and friend of our tree sales for may years and we would like to thank them for their support.
Furthermore, we would like to thank Truckee Tahoe Propane, Village Pizzeria and the Tahoe-Truckee Disposal Company for their generosity. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to our customers and the numerous individuals who have given their time to make this program successful.
Sincerely,
Andrew Boehm
President, Truckee Optimist Club
Dads in Drag a blast
Kings Beach Parents Co-op thanks everyone who helped make this year’s Dads in Drag fundraiser our most successful yet. Donors and supporters enjoyed an evening of fashion and food; while MC, Diego Galindo, and the music of The Truth Cartel helped keep the energy going.
John Cheney and the wonderful staff at Big Water Grille provided a beautiful location and delicious food; while Alyssa Aninos, the team at Dress the Part(y) and Panache offered wardrobe, makeup assistance, and auction items. Though there are too many to list, we are grateful for the support of many others who contributed to our auction. We are also indebted to the men who answered the call to participate. With the amazing support of so many the fundraiser was a smashing success.
All proceeds finance the programs of the Co-op, a nonprofit, parent-run preschool and kindergarten. To learn more, visit http://www.kingsbeachparentscoop.org or call 530-546-7519.

Successful search for donations
I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the community of Truckee for their support of our Feb. 16 fundraiser. Fifty-five of our volunteers and most of our K9 teams were out in force “searching for donations” at both the Safeway and Save Mart shopping centers. The response from the community was overwhelming, and their generosity was greatly appreciated.
Our dedicated team of volunteers relies on 100 percent donations from the community, which supply us with much needed gear in support of our search operations. We would not exist without the support of the community behind us, and this is why we do what we do – to help and support the community when one of our own goes missing or gets lost.
On behalf of all of our volunteers, we thank the entire Truckee community!
