TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation would like to thank the Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors for its partnership and the success of the third annual Martis Camp Home Tour held on Aug. 5. The Home Tour proved to be a tremendous success raising more than $56,000 for the Foundation and thus, our local schools. We would like to extend a special thank you to Northstar California for providing the transportation for event, to the docents who volunteered in the homes and to the Home Tour committee members for the many months of volunteer hours they dedicated. The camp was a huge success, and I owe a world of thanks to the service organizations around the Truckee / Tahoe area for making it another great year for the kids and instructors. The Truckee Donner Recreation and Park Districtandamp;#8217;s Junior Lifeguard camp would not be nearly as successful without the help of the Truckee Fire District, the lifeguards at Sand Harbor, and the people stationed at Coast Guard, Lake Tahoe. Each one of these organizations opened its doors, ambulance bags, and boats to our kids in order to give them a glimpse into the world of saving lives. Our campers were able to test lifesaving equipment, ride rescue boats and Jet Skis, play with handcuffs, and experience a day in the life of a paramedic, lifeguard, firefighter, and a Coast Guard cadet. The participation of these groups made for a truly wonderful two weeks of camp. Thank you, it was great to meet everyone and I look forward to seeing you again next August! Sincerely, Amanda Oberacker, aquatic coordinatorTruckee Donner Rec andamp; Park District
