People brought their pets to receive their own blessing given by the monk.I had just lost my dear little dog, but took her ashes to be blessed. It was a comforting closure for me and most appreciated.Thank you, again, to the Center for Spiritual Living.andamp;#8212; Jonda FrielOperation Semi vs. Train smashing successI would like to publicly thank the members of the strategic planning team involved in organizing the community wide emergency preparedness exercise, Operation Semi vs. Train held on July 20, 2011.Over the last five months, this committed multi-agency team has given hours of their time and shown great care for our region in developing a large scale exercise to test and strengthen our emergency response capabilities. The commitment to our community coupled with the consistent high level of knowledge and dedicated professionalism are an example of how our local agencies can come together for the purpose of improving our regional reaction to potential and real time emergencies.I feel fortunate to be a part of this group. Thanks, too, to all 70 community members who volunteered their time to be victims of the incident, and the Community Arts Center, TTUSD Transportation, Dial-A-Ride, Al Pombo, and Union Pacific for assistance with space, transportation, and scenario props. Lastly, a special thank you goes to Victor Hernandez, Donna Bullard, and Kristin Mann who spent hours of their time with the volunteer coordination.
