Sunshines: Thank You Letters
On behalf of the entire Tahoe LUNA Chix Team, we want to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who supported the Third Annual Pink Party, a breast cancer fundraiser, on Oct. 26, 2007. The specific support is far too long to list, however please know that we are grateful to all the businesses that donated to the auction, provided sponsorship, and provided us publicity. We would also like to thank Ed Coleman and his staff at Bar of America/Pacific Crest. Without their support, this event would not happen. And, of course, we want to thank the amazing people who came to the event to dance, donate and be pink. We are happy to report another very successful event, raising $25,000 for the Breast Cancer Fund and local breast cancer initiatives, which provide critical prevention education and support for women in our community. We cant wait for next year to have an even Pinker event!A Very Big, Pink, Thank You,The Tahoe LUNA Chix Team
Alder Creek Middle School and the Peer Helpers would like to thank Tahoe Forest Hospital, Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors, Town of Truckee Police Association, The Lion’s Club, Truckee Police Department, Dairy Queen, and its owner, Mark Stearns, for their most generous contributions to support Red Ribbon Week at our school. This week is celebrated nationally to remind our country’s teens to be drug, alcohol, and tobacco free. We are able to offer incentives, and drug-free contests through the support of our community members named above. Thank you very much for everything you do to support our school and community!Alder Creek Middle SchoolAnd the Counseling Department
KidZone Museum for children, in the midst of their 2008 Annual Giving Campaign, would like to thank chef Billy McCullough and Phebe Bell, owners of Dragonfly Restaurant in downtown Truckee for their past and continued support of the KidZone Museum. Billy opens his entire gourmet restaurant serving a four-course meal to 90 people for a major museum fundraising event. He donates his time and all proceeds and his gourmet culinary delights to make this event a sold-out affair. Dragonfly Dinner, held at the end of September 2007, raised $10,000 providing critical funding for museum operations. In addition, local artists donated fine art for an auction to help raise money for KidZone Museum and the newly formed Arts and Culture Council of Truckee Tahoe (ACCTT). The council and the KidZone Museum are both interested in sustaining art education opportunities for youth in our community. The artwork was phenomenal and the generosity of the artists unmatched. We depend on the support from community members like Billy and Phebe and all our year-end donors, so we are able to provide quality education to 17,000 visitors each year. We cannot thank Billy and Phebe enough for the support they have given the museum for the past five years.Carol Meagher, Director of the KidZone MuseumLisa Petrucci, Board President
