Company cares for clients

To the editor:

My family has a second home in Truckee. On the Friday before Christmas, Dec. 22, I called Bi-State to ask them to come out and fill my propane tank the following week. I could not tell them how empty it was, for I had trouble reading the meter. At 7:30 p.m. Friday night I got a call from Rob Jones at Bi-State about my request, he had been going through the new receipts and found that I didn’t know how much propane was left in the tank. He didn’t like the idea we could run out over the three-day holiday. He decided to make a delivery on Saturday. Rob didn’t have to call me, or deliver propane before Tuesday. He could have waited until after Christmas and dealt with us later.

When you ask about the character and values of the citizens of Truckee, Rob is a perfect example of one of many locals we have come to respect and admire.

Cadet Squad thanks donors

To the editor:

The Tahoe Truckee Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol has just completed its first year in existence. We wish to thank you, the Town of Truckee, all our neighbors and friends, and the many youth-oriented organizations that helped us get started.

The contributions of a video projector from Pritchard, Hubble, and Herr, Inc., a copier from Tahoe Forest Hospital, servicing from Nevada Office Machines, and a cash donation from Donner Lake Realty got us started. The cash donations from some of our fine local organizations – Truckee Noon Rotary, Truckee Lioness Club, Truckee Optimist Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation – as well as generous private donations provided the means for some of our cadets to be trained in emergency response and medical procedures, search and rescue procedures, and attend educational encampments around the country.

We wish to thank Albertson’s, Long’s and Safeway for their donations and the Truckee Tahoe Airport Board for allowing us the use of many of their facilities. Amy’s Deli at the airport contributed food for our promotion party and a cake from Treat Box Bakery.

The cadets have enjoyed the opportunity to serve the community by working at the Truckee Rodeo, Coast Guard Day on Lake Tahoe, Truckee Photo Day, Truckee Air Affair and Snowfest 2000.

Our squadron was named “Meritorious Squadron of the Year” and “Cadet Squadron of the Year” at the Nevada Wing 2000 awards ceremony. We thank the Truckee Town Council for its encouragement.

We appreciate your overwhelming support for our program. Please visit us on Monday nights at Truckee Airport so we can share our new knowledge with you.

Hospital did a great job

To the editor:

I’d like to express my sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of Tahoe Forest Hospital for taking such extraordinary care of me after I sustained a broken hip. Doctors Fischer, Tirdel and Specht, all my nurses and the entire staff treated me with unending kindness and love, and continue to do so thru Home Health. I truly appreciate it and can’t express my thanks enough. What fortune to have such a great facility with such great people.
