Tahoe City Martial Arts scores in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. and#8212; Members of Tahoe City Martial Arts Academy, 475 N Lake Blvd., Ste. 253, Tahoe City, performed in the WTSDA Regional Championship and Black Belt testing May 27-29. The competitors participated in a friendly, family oriented environment. Local students who attended include Kieran Fenton, age 8; Aidan Fenton, age 10; Taylor Lewis, age 17; Ruben Radilla, age 18 and Marty Cohen, age 62.

Participants of the Region One Championship came from Northern California, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

On Friday, May 27, Tahoe City local Taylor Lewis tested for her first-degree black belt along with 15 other students from schools throughout the region. The test was difficult, challenging and energetic. Lewis successfully passed her test and will be receiving her black belt shortly. and#8220;I am extremely proud of her performance during her black belt test,and#8221; said Patrick Cerceau, owner and chief instructor of Tahoe City Martial Arts Academy. and#8220;Taylor has been training with our studio since she was 8 years old. She is an exceptional martial artist and is the assistant instructor of the children programs.and#8221;

Dr. Tim Schroeder, a longtime chiropractor and Master Instructor of Tahoe City Martial Arts Academy was a member of the testing board for the black belt test. Other members of the board consisted of master instructors ranging from fourth to sixth degree black belt.

Ruben Radilla was the runner-up for Grand Championship trophy. Though he and the winner had the same amount of total points, the other competitor held a higher rank, thus becoming the Region One Grand Champion.

Brown belt: Kieran Fenton, Silver, Forms; Gold, Sparing; Bronze, Weapons.

Black belt candidate: Taylor Lewis, Silver, Sparing; Gold, Weapons

Black belt: Ruben Radilla, Silver, Forms; Gold, Weapons

Second degree black belt: Marty Cohen, Silver, Weapons
