TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; Spring has sprung and the Tahoe City Parks and Recreation Department is geared up for good times.

Girls youth softball: The girls fast pitch league is starting shortly, so teams are forming to participate in a regional league (Truckee, Incline Village, Nev. and Kings Beach). Teams will be separated by grade second-fourth, fifth-sixth and seventh-ninth. Games and practices will be after school starting April 30 at local fields. Sign up now with your friends for only $75 per person with scholarship available.

Summer sign up day: Saturday May 5 at Rideout Community Center, 740 Timberland Lane, Tahoe City, 8-9:30 a.m. for residents and 9:30-10 a.m. for non-residents. Donand#8217;t miss the annual registration day for Camp Skylandia, swim lessons and sailing. Registration will be taken for other programs as well. Proof of residency will be checked. If youand#8217;re not able to attend contact the recreation office and they will fax you a registration form. Fax it back at 530-583-8452 to get registered when the walk-ins are complete.

Yoga blend: This gentle but challenging class will focus on stretching the body. This is a beginner or intermediate level course and is held in downtown Tahoe City in the upstairs room of the North Tahoe Arts Center. Classes are held every Wednesday night, 5-6:30 p.m. Register at the class for $10 per class!

Babysitter boot camp: Your aspiring babysitter will learn skills like supervising children and infants, diapering and feeding, caring for common injuries, kitchen safety, communicating with parents and interviewing for babysitting jobs. This camp will be held Saturday, April 21, 9-5 p.m. at Rideout Community Center and be conducted by Red Cross staff. The camp is perfect for 11-15 year olds and $95 per person. Deadline to register is April 16.

Model rocketry: Join future fellow rocket scientists and NASA astronauts in this fun and exciting program. Each session will allow participants to build, launch and recover two take-home model rockets. Six-week session will be held on Mondays starting April 23, beginner class from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and an advanced class 4:30-5:30 p.m. Beginner $55 and $60 for advanced residents. Pre-registration required at the Parks and Recreation office, 740 Timberland Lane, Tahoe City.

Little Lakers: This introductory sports program will introduce you preschoolers to the basic skills and techniques of sports. Development of fine and gross motor skills while making new friends in a safe environment is what this program is all about. Program runs on Tuesdays from 1:00-1:45 and each sport is a four-week session. Soccer began April 10 with baseball following in May. A minimum of four students required to carry the class!
