Tahoe City’s Rideout Community Center

The Rideout Community Center is hosting The Rideout Family Bicycle Derby at the community center, 740 Timberland Road, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13. The event will include DJ music provided by Mark from DJ Retro, a BBQ, bike rides, bike games, bike education booths, old fashioned family field games and a bike obstacle course. Children can try their skills on the bicycle safety course and older experienced riders can participate in the Ride The Trails. There will also be a childrenand#8217;s bike decorating activity and face painting.

Saturdayand#8217;s event will also feature a localsand#8217; bike swap. Please bring your old bikes and bike parts to sell, trade or buy at the swap. We have a cool beach cruiser that we are raffling off to one lucky individual. The proceeds will go toward teen programming.

Get tips on family bicycling and commuting along the bike paths and bike lanes of Lake Tahoe. Pedal There, Tahoeand#8217;s local bicycle organization will be on hand at the Derby.



The Family Bike Derby is all about growing the bicycle culture in Tahoe City through offering fun events and educational outreach. The Rideout Bike Derby is free to participants with something for all ages. Grab your helmets and pedal on over to Rideout for the Bike Derby!

Kickinand#8217; it in Tahoe



Think back to your elementary school days when countless recesses were devoted in pursuit of forming teams and playing the game kick ball. You knew there actually were no professional teams, but did you dream of going pro someday? Well nowand#8217;s your chance grab your friends or co-workers and put together a team for Tahoe Cityand#8217;s Recreational Adult Kickball League. League play takes place on Monday nights beginning June 29 continuing through Aug. 17. Show the red rubber ball whoand#8217;s boss. For more information call (530) 583-3440 ext. 11.

Garden Plots Available

There are still a few plots left in the Rideout Community Garden. The Rideout plots are available to grow your own vegetables, herbs or flowers. Gardeners are provided with a raised bed, drip irrigation, access to water and a unique neighborly gardening community atmosphere in a sunny location. They wonand#8217;t last long so hurry! Call 583-3440 ext. 12 to reserve your space.

Ultimate Frisbee League

Sign-ups are under way for the Summer Ultimate Frisbee League. Put together a team and call to register now. League play takes place on Tuesday evenings, from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Rideout Field. For information call 583-3440 ext. 11

Youths: Maximize your athletic

performance with Speed Camp Training!

Speed camp is a short term, intense training camp, offered four days per week for one week. At speed camp, sports techniques are fine tuned so you can perform at 100 percent of your potential.

The goal is to become a better athlete so when soccer, volleyball or football season starts youand#8217;re faster! Speed Camp training program covers all the fundamentals of speed in practice sessions that encourage development and refinement of agility, coordination and movement efficiency. The need for speed is fundamental to all sports, if an athlete is agile and fast their game performance abilities will increase.

Camp dates: June 22 to 25; July 13 to 16 or Aug. 3 to 6, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon

Age group: Open to boys and girls aged 11 to 17

Lead Coach: Scott Williams, PT, OCS.
