Tahoe Donner inaugural Fall Festival will be a colorful event

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Autumn is such a great time for fun activities that The Tahoe Donner Association has decided to do them all in one day. The nonprofit organization is hosting its First Annual Fall Festival, Oct. 23 in and around the Northwoods Clubhouse, 11509 Northwoods Blvd., Truckee. A wide variety of activities are planned for everyone to enjoy.

Fall Fun Run: Kick off the day with a Fun Run at Trout Creek Recreation Center at 9 a.m. One mile and 5K options. Cost to participate is $10 for youths and $15 for adults if registered before the event. T-shirts will be given to participants and all registered children will receive a medal. Pre-register online at shoptd.tahoedonner.com.

The festivities include a bounce house, hay maze, pumpkin patch and pumpkin carving with pony rides, noon-2:30 p.m. Also a climbing wall, apple bobbing, beer tasting, 3 and#8211; 6 p.m. live music and more.



Doggy Dip at Northwoods pool: Bring your dog(s) for a swim in Northwoods Pool, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and visit with pet supply vendors. Please bring a leash.

Fall Festival Recipe Contest: Awards will be given for Best Savory, Best Sweet and Best Fall recipe. Recipes must feature a main ingredient in season between September and November. Contestant recipes must be prepared, plated and ready for presentation at noon Saturday, Oct. 23. To pre-register, send an e-mail to lhussar@tahoedonner.com.



Live music line up: Get in the groove and tap your toes to the follwoing performances: The Rebekah Chase Band, noon-2 p.m., Truckee Middle School Jazz Band, 2:15 p.m., Truckee Youth Football and Cheer, 2:45 p.m., Inner Rhythms Dance Studio, 3:15 p.m. and the Buddy Emmer Band, 4-6 p.m.
