Tahoe Forest Health System offers free anterior hip replacement talk

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Health Talks, a community health education series offered by Tahoe Forest Health System, will feature Jeffrey Dodd, MD who will educate about a safer, less invasive approach to hip replacement using the most advanced equipment. Specializing in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Dodd is one of few orthopedic surgeons who have performed anterior hip surgery, an advanced approach to total hip surgery. This free, informative talk will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14, 6 p.m. at the Eskridge Conference Room, Tahoe Forest Hospital, 10121 Pine Ave., Truckee.

and#8220;The hip is one of the bodyand#8217;s largest weight-bearing joints. Itand#8217;s no wonder that today more than 193,000 total hip replacements are performed each year in the United States. Our goal is to minimize invasive approaches that take more time to recover,and#8221; said Dr. Dodd, MD, North Tahoe Orthopedics, Truckee.

Dr. Doddand#8217;s presentation will explain anterior hip surgery, a minimally invasive and state-of-the art technique for hip replacement. Heand#8217;ll answer commonly asked questions as to why itand#8217;s safer; how itand#8217;s less invasive and whether recovery time is less than traditional hip surgery. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.
