Tahoe Forest Hospice seeks new bereavement support volunteer
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8211; Tahoe Forest Hospice is currently seeking to engage a compassionate and dedicated person interested in joining its team of hospice bereavement support volunteers. The volunteer will work as a part of the bereavement team under the direction of the bereavement coordinator and volunteer coordinator supporting hospice families and friends during the grief process.
The main responsibilities include working under the direction of the volunteer and bereavement coordinator to provide bereavement services to deceased patientsand#8217; families; provide services on a scheduled basis according to program needs and bereavement plan of care; maintain open communication with other team members and assist the bereavement coordinator with community support when needed.
Qualifying candidates must exhibit emotional maturity, reliability, sensitivity, good listening skills, successful incorporation of losses in oneand#8217;s own life and the ability to accept people as they are, in addition to being organized and dependable.
The hospice bereavement support volunteer is also required to attend an eight-hour free bereavement training program in addition to an online training or the 25-hour hospice patient/family support volunteer training. Other requirements include: Attending a minimum of two volunteer support and education meetings annually; committing and having a willingness to one year of service; completing visit and/or all notes and monthly reports on a timely basis; following all Tahoe Forest Health System and Tahoe Forest Hospice policies and procedures and submitting to a background check, TB test, Flu and Tdap vaccination at no cost to the volunteer.
