Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation awards $42,000 in scholarships

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8211; Tahoe Mountain Resorts Foundation (TMRF) recently awarded $42,000 in scholarships to six deserving Truckee and North Lake Tahoe graduating high school seniors at each schooland#8217;s Evening of Excellence ceremony. Since the TMRF Scholarship was formed in 2003, it continues to provide scholarship assistance and public recognition to graduating Truckee and North Lake Tahoe High School seniors who have demonstrated academic achievement and community involvement.

This year the Foundation received numerous highly qualified applications from both Truckee High School and North Lake Tahoe High School. The scholarship committee reviewed each application and then invited 14 students for interviews prior to recognizing its scholarship recipients.

These are our future leaders just beginning a new chapter of their lives. I feel confident that theyand#8217;ll contribute to making the world a better place.and#8221;



The following are the 2010 TMR Foundation Scholarship recipients:

Alexander Hamilton, Truckee High School, $30,000



Angel Gonzalez, North Tahoe High School, $10,000

Megan Falk, Truckee High School; Michaela Brooke Wolfe Griffin, Truckee High School; Brian Matthew, Truckee High School; Guy Smith, Truckee High School, $500 winners.

and#8220;Few things are more important to me than my education, and TMRFand#8217;s immense generosity makes me that much more committed to a future of learning,and#8221; said Alexander Hamilton, $30,000 scholarship recipient.

TMRF nonprofit, enriches the quality of life in Truckee/North Lake Tahoe by giving back to various organizations in the community with ongoing support to local organizations to preserve the arts, environment, athletics, health organizations and charitable pursuits.
