Tahoe Music Institute students to and#8216;Bring On The Bluesand#8217; at Jakeand#8217;s
TAHOE CITY, Calif. and#8212; Enjoy happy hour pricing and support local music students as they and#8220;Bring on the Bluesand#8221; at Jakeand#8217;s on the Lake in Tahoe Cityand#8217;s Boatworks Mall on Wednesday, May 30 at 6 p.m.
Tahoe Music Institute musicians and the Youth Chorus, will perform with their instructors including Jody Sweet, Stephanie Fountaine, Kerry Andras, Nick Blechman and Todd Holway.
and#8220;Itand#8217;s an opportunity for the students of the institute to play in a professional setting,and#8221; said Shauna Righellis, the schooland#8217;s director. and#8220;As a former band director, I realize the importance of getting students out there to play. I want students from the Institute to grow as musicians and bring back to their school music programs.and#8221;
Indeed, Righellis is not content with keeping her musicians cloistered in a studio, school or home setting.
and#8220;There’s more to music than playing in the school band, orchestra or choir,and#8221; Righellis said. and#8220;Itand#8217;s easier to see this for guitar, bass and piano players, but for those who play typical and#8216;bandand#8217; instruments it can be much more challenging. Many students think they if they want to continue with music they will have to perform in a professional orchestra. The truth is that there are so many other ways of making music.and#8221;
Sweet sounds of summer
In an effort to keep young musiciansand#8217; skills growing throughout the year, TMI offers a variety of innovative summer programs. Wind instrument students can select from the Summer Chamber Music Series, Brass Boot Camp and the Crazy for Clarinets Workshop, Saxophone Madness Workshop and Intro to Improvisation Workshop. Singers can join in the Summer Children’s Youth Chorus and A Capella Chorus. And young guitarists can hone their skills in the Guitar Summer Day Camp or Group Guitar Class for Kids. Private, semi-private and group lesson are offered as well.
The Tahoe Music Institute is located in Tahoe City in the Lake Forest Creative Center. Classes are available in piano, voice, woodwind, brass, percussion, guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin and fiddle for children, teens and adults.
