Tahoe Safe Alliance: Dads are important

Jessica Linn
Special to the Sun

TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; Fatherand#8217;s Day is fast approaching. Tahoe Safe Alliance wants to take some time to celebrate Dads and the important role they have in the life of their children. Dads are key to preventing child abuse and neglect.

Dadand#8217;s influence lasts a lifetime.

Kids need their Dad and their Mom. Each plays an equal role in shaping the life of a child.

Dad can spend time regularly with his children, even if he doesnand#8217;t live with them.

Dad has lots of jobs. One of them is to let his children know that he loves them and will take good care of them.

Dad, just like mom, can be involved in his childrenand#8217;s lives by:

and#8226; Making a habit of talking and listening to them

and#8226; Teaching them about the world

and#8226; Being a positive role model

Dad is just as important to his daughters as he is to his sons.

Dad can learn to take good care of his children, even if his own father wasnand#8217;t around to teach him about being a father.

Communities 4 Kids and Tahoe SAFE Alliance would like to send a special thank you to every Dad out there who has dedicated their time, energy, and love to their children. You are needed by your children.

Happy Fatherand#8217;s Day!

and#8212; By Jessica Linn, childrenand#8217;s program manager at Tahoe SAFE Alliance and Co-chair of Communities 4 Kids, your local Child Abuse Prevention Council.
