On Oct. 21, at the first concert of the North Tahoe School season, Nancy Lancaster, as Director of the Tahoe Sierra Century Ride, presented a check from the proceeds of the ride for $27,000.

The lucky recipient is the Fan Club, the parent support group for the North Tahoe Middle and High School band programs in Tahoe City, represented by President Julie Younger.

Teachers Dean Nordby and Brittany Iverson, from the high school, and Shauna Gilberti from the middle school, were on hand to share in the excitement.

These funds will be used to support the music program in both schools including sheet music, festival costs and enrichment activities. The Century has just finished their seventh year, providing an all volunteer-supported ride to more than 600 riders, finishing up with dinner and a concert by the students in The Village at Squaw Valley.

Join the students at their next free concert on Dec. 17, 6 p.m. at the school. Watch for the jazz bands at various venues as the holiday season approaches.
