This is a very valued service to members of the community who cannot physically clean on a regular basis and/or cannot afford cleaning services. Volunteer activities include cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, window washing, beautifying porches, and moving furniture.

Get ahead and refresh your reading, writing and math skills this summer at Clever Minds. Join the celebration of Clever Minds’ sixth year by participating in readiness workshops for language arts and math, geared towards students entering grades six through eight.

Experienced/credentialed, energetic and creative teachers make learning fun by reviewing and previewing important concepts and skills. There is a maximum of five students in each group. Each Middle School Workshop meets twice a week for 1.5 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 6 to Aug. 13 at Clever Minds Learning Center, located in downtown Truckee.

Readiness Workshops are also available for elementary and high school students. Specialty Workshops in Art and Environmental Science are available for elementary and middle school students. Individual tutoring is available for students of all ages.

Alder Creek Middle School is excited to announce 48 of 113 English Learners with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the second trimester of the 2008-09 school year were rewarded with a tour of UC Berkeley. Generous support and donation of the Cal Alumni group, Bears in the Woods and a grant from Excellence in Education enabled the trip.

The students shadowed the Trenza and Hermanos Unidos student groups of UC Berkeley to motivate educational endeavors and understand the possibilities that exist.
