Teri McKinney is offering a cheerleading and tumbling camp on the shore of Donner Lake this summer. Participants will need to wear comfortable clothes and bring lunch, bathing suit, sun block and lots of water. Camps will be taught by McKinney as well as Ashley Hartman and Javier Espinoza. There will be free beach time each day. A half day (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) costs $75 and a full day (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) costs $150. For questions call Teri at (775) 624-6994.

The Nevada Red Cross and United Blood Services are sponsoring a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 19 at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Nonprofit Center. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association volunteer guides Karen Thorsett and Dick Reed will guide a two-day, 21-mile trek (1,500 ft elevation gain) along the Tahoe Rim Trail from Tahoe City to Brockway Summit with an overnight stay at Watson Lake. The trip will be from June 19 to 20 with views of Lake Tahoe on the Tahoe Rim Trail.This segment also offers the opportunity to explore cinder cones and ancient lava flows that dot the trailside. Watson Lake is a a scenic, shallow lake andamp;#8212; great for fishing (fishing license required). Participants must be able to hike 14 miles per day at elevation with a 20-30 pound backpack. Participants must provide their own gear, food and clothing. This hike is open only to adults more than 16 years of age and is limited to 10 participants. Teens will learn safety in the home, home security, what to do in the event of an emergency, fire safety, as well as first aid and CPR. The class also teaches young teens the important responsibilities of babysitting. Students will pass with an American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Certification and a babysitting certificate. Take in inspiring views of the lake as the moon rises over the Lake Tahoe Basin. Experience the peace, tranquility and beauty of the Tahoe Rim Trail at dusk. Expect casually paced hikes for all ages, while slowing down to enjoy the flora and fauna, current happenings in the natural world and nighttime senses. Bring a flashlight, layered clothing and water. This may not be the best hike for children under 10. Please, to respect the night sounds and wildlife, no dogs this time! Pickleball is a hybrid of tennis, badminton, tennis and ping pong. It is played on a badminton-size court with a low net, whiffle-balls and a ping-pong-like paddle.A very low impact sport which is easy on older joints, but popular with young folks.
