Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services Volunteer Spotlight: Jesi Steward
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services is always seeking dedicated volunteers to help further its mission of reducing the incidence and trauma of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse in the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee communities. Our volunteers play a crucial role in our agency, whether as ticket sellers at the annual Chocolate, Wine, andamp; Roses Festival, actresses in the annual andamp;#8220;Vagina Monologues,andamp;#8221; production or volunteers on our 24-hour crisis helpline. Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services is proud to have a strong contingent of community members willing to help in any capacity. Jesi Steward is a fantastic example of a Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services volunteer. With a background in marketing and advertising, Jesi started volunteering in January 2010 assisting the marketing and outreach team. After volunteering in the TWS office, Jesi wanted to learn more about our mission and how to volunteer in a more direct way.She is currently in the process of completing our 68-hour Crisis Intervention Training (C.I.T.), which is required to work with our clients directly. CIT has provided her with knowledge that she can apply both in Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s services as well as throughout the community. Once Jesi started the training, she found it exciting and she began to view the training as andamp;#8220;enriching in many surprising ways.andamp;#8221;andamp;#8220;I knew that volunteering for TWS would make me feel good andamp;#8212; that I was giving back. What I didnandamp;#8217;t know was how much fun I was going to have! It has been such a bonus getting to know the people who work for TWS andamp;#8212; and the volunteers in class with me at CIT. Iandamp;#8217;ve gotten to know myself better, too, and I like that,andamp;#8221; said Steward.Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Service would like to thank all of its dedicated volunteers, and offer congratulations to those about to graduate from Crisis Intervention Training this season. Jesi, meanwhile, plans to volunteer and support Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services in its mission for many years to come!Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services offers a Crisis Intervention Training twice per year. All community members who are interested in volunteering or participating in our Crisis Intervention Training are welcome.
