Teen Challenge mentoring to be featured Truckee Talks, channel 6

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; A program to offer at-risk teens an alternative direction will be the topic of an upcoming Truckee Talks, to air beginning Dec. 26. The show’s featured guests are Derek Johnson, director of Teen Challenge, Reno, Nev. and and#8220;Jake,and#8221; a 13-year-old resident of the Teen Challenge facility in Sparks, Nev.

According to their website, http://www.teenchallenge.net, and#8220;Teen Challenge provides successful recovery for men, women, teens, children and families with destructive and abusive lifestyles through mentoring, education, training and spiritual direction.and#8221; Johnson explains young men are housed, educated and retrained in their local facility. He shares the organizational vision and the methodologies employed to redirect teens who may otherwise be left to a life of crime and incarceration. Student Jake discusses his personal experience with Teen Challenge.
