The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe announces Autumn Food & Wine schedule

TAHOE/TRUCKEE – The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe announced the full calendar of events hosted at the mountain resort during the annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival, Sept. 7-9, 2012. New events include a mixology competition, handcrafted cocktail class and master chef’s dinner, along with the participation in the highlight of the weekend – The Culinary Competition and Grand Tasting by the team from Manzanita. “We have invited a great roster of talent to create fun, innovative events both locals and visitors will want to experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe,” said Steven Holt, market director of public relations for The Ritz-Carlton. “Autumn Food & Wine is a great weekend to explore the region’s restaurants and wineries,” he continued. Culinary Competition and Grand TastingSunday, Sept. 9, 1-4 p.m.Chef Austin Green and Sommelier Gail Oversteg will represent Manzanita in this annual culinary competition. More than 30 of Tahoe’s finest restaurants, caterers and chefs to develop a dish that perfectly pairs with a single varietal and vintage of wine/beer/spirits. These pairings are judged by a panel of professional food and beverage industry experts. It is a blind judging where the panel does not know the name of the restaurant and they are only told the varietal of the wine. There have been some magnificent pairings over the years. The judges then vote for the Judge’s Choice Awards.Attendees will have the opportunity to sample all the food and wine/brew/spirits pairings in an afternoon filled with ultra premium wines, brews, fantastic food, live music and the company of good friends. The Culinary Competition and Grand Tasting is the epic food and wine event in the Sierra and is the perfect welcome to the fall season.
