The Truckee Chamber annual award nominations announced
TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce announced the nominations for its Annual Awards to be presented at the Chamberandamp;#8217;s Annual Dinner and Pandoraandamp;#8217;s Auction, Oct. 26 at the Ritz-Carlton Highlands, Lake Tahoe.Nominations for Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, the Hospitality Award and Non-Profit Organization of the Year have been received.Nominations for Small Business of the Year include: Autoglass Express, Burger Me, Cabonaandamp;#8217;s, Carmel Gallery, Creative Concepts, Crux Events, Elijah Bleuandamp;#8217;s, Full Belly Deli, Gray Construction, Red Truck, Runway Caf andamp; Catering, The Office Boss, The Pour House, Tourist Club, Tributary Whitewater Tours, Truckee River Winery and Wandamp;T Graphix. These businesses were recognized for their staying power and growth in business; innovative product or services; ability to respond to adversity in the economy; and their service and contribution to the community.Nominees for Large Business of the Year include: Better Homes andamp; Gardens Real Estate andamp;#8211; Mason McDuffie (formerly Prudential CA Realty), Clear Capital, Mountain Hardware, Rock andamp; Rose, Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, Teichert Aggregate, Truckee Tahoe Lumber Co. These businesses were recognized for their involvement in solving issues facing the community; enhancement and investment in the areaandamp;#8217;s economy; contributions to the local labor market through career opportunities; contributions to the community and support of Chamber programs.The Hospitality Award nominees include: Burger Me, Cabonaandamp;#8217;s/Stefanie Olivieri, Crux Events, Full Belly Deli, Kathy Noel (Resort at Squaw Creek), Keith Thomas, Mark Estee, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Plumas Bank, Tahoe Forest Cancer Center (Dr. Heifetz and staff), and Wells Fargo. Each conveys a commitment to the community and its economy; portrays the warmth, charm and character of Truckee and is a leader in setting standards in excellence and customer service.Nominees for the Volunteer of the Year include: Alyssa Westenberg, Bridget Murray, Deb Ryan, Georgia Smith, Ginger Taylor, Helen Pelster, Jenny Bosin, Julie Tenorio, Laura Mohun, Nancy Williams, Pam Hobday, Pat Callahan, Pattie and Hartley Lesser, Phyllis McConn, Rolann Aaronson, Ruth Geresy, Stefanie Olivieri, Steve Carpenter, and Steve Randall.Non-Profit Organization of the Year nominations include: American Cancer Society andamp;#8212; Relay for Life of Truckee, Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT), Family Resource Center, Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe, KidZone Museum, Lake Tahoe Music Festival, Sierra Senior Services, Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner and Truckee Downtown Merchants Association. These organizations are nominated for their valuable service to the betterment of our community. The efforts of these organizations are felt by many citizens or businesses and make a tremendous impact to the communityandamp;#8217;s well being.A highlight of the evening is the annual Pandoraandamp;#8217;s Auction, a silent auction extravaganza made possible by Chamber member donations. These funds will be used by the Chamber to implement a dynamic and proactive program of work in the upcoming year. Master of Ceremonies this year will be the esteemed Jim Simon. Cost for attending is $90 per person.
