TOCCATA to feature violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn throughout the region
The Orchestra and Community Choral Artists of the Tahoe Area will present the Bach andamp; Bruch concert series featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra, chorus and soloists. Featured soloist will be andamp;#8220;Red Stradivariusandamp;#8221; violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn, performing the Bruch violin concerto No. 1 in G minor and Dvorakandamp;#8217;s andamp;#8220;Romanzaandamp;#8221; for violin. The chorus will present J.S. Bachandamp;#8217;s masterpiece, andamp;#8220;Magnificat,andamp;#8221; with vocal soloists Katharine DeBoer, Anna Helwing, and Joy Strotz, sopranos; Marianne Ashley and Susan Benefield, mezzo sopranos; Andy Sonnemaker and John Hutto, tenors; and Stuart Duke, baritone. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the Cal Neva Resort in Crystal Bay; 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Resort at Squaw Creek; at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at St. Theresaandamp;#8217;s Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe; and at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Trinity Episcopal church in Reno. General admission at the door is $25 for adults, $15 for seniors, $5 for students and children under 12 are free with a paying adult. Preferred seating is $35 ($40 at the resorts).
