Toys for Tots a community success

Courtesy Elaine DurazoTim and Dianne Brown, owners of Zanoandamp;#8217;s Family Italian andamp; Pizzeria graciously opened their heart and home (restaurant) for the Truckee Toys for Tots Kick-off Party. The Browns provided pizzas, pastas, salad bar, desserts and a wonderful evening. Live music was provided by Sheldon Felich and Band, while businessess donated gifts were raffled throughout the evening.

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; The last two years the US Marine Corps Reserve has provided toys to the Tahoe and Truckee children with the help of their authorized local coordinater organizer, Elaine Durazo. Durazo has hosts toy collection kick-off parties in Truckee and the toys received are given to Truckee Community Christmas and Truckee Soroptomist for distribution. This year, Zanoandamp;#8217;s graciously hosted the Truckee kick-off party Dec. 1, they provided wonderful food for guests and it was a huge success.Additionally, the U.S. Marine foundation provides supplemental toys that are received in Tahoe City and are equally split with Truckee for children in need. The amount of toys provided to the Soroptimists for distribution through Truckee Community Christmasandamp;#8217; is literally a truckload to date. The toy collection boxes (30) in Truckee and (15) on the north shore are provided by the foundation. Toys collected in your community will stay in your community, respectively.Approximately 100 guests attended bearing gifts for area children in need. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Local Coordinator Organizer Elaine Durazo, Coldwell Banker Realtor along with Corporal Parker Dial, and Santa, Greg Parker of Coldwell Banker delivered a $2,500 check to Truckee Community Christmas / Soroptimist members Lil Schaller and Alissa Just.
