TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing appointed Travis Alley as it new head golf professional. Alley has been an employee of Tahoe Mountain Club (TMC), which owns and operates both The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing and Old Greenwood, since his graduation from Methodist College in 2007. In spring 2010, Alley was appointed first assistant golf professional at Old Greenwood where he did an outstanding job, priming him for the Head Golf Professional position at The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing.

“Travis is a rare find in the golf industry. He’s not only passionate about playing golf, but he excels at managing and training people,” said Bob Hickam, director of golf, Old Greenwood and The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing. “Gray’s is open to the public, and Travis looks forward to meeting new golfers.”

A native of Lagrangeville, N.Y., Alley grew up playing just about every sport. He excelled at golf and baseball. Incidentally, his father enjoyed a short stint in the major leagues with the Montreal Expos. That could be where Alley finds the talent to hit the golf ball nearly 350 yards. At Methodist College in Fayetteville, N.C., he was a standout on the Men’s Intercollegiate Golf Team while completing the school’s renowned Pro Golf Management Program. Off the course, Alley enjoys many of Tahoe’s well-known favorite sports including fly fishing, mountain biking, kayaking and snow skiing.

The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing opens Friday, May 27; Old Greenwood opened Wednesday, May 18.

The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing and Old Greenwood Golf Course are operated by Tahoe Mountain Club, Membership in TMC provides golf benefits at both courses, including discounted tee times and priority reservations.
