Truckee Community Christmas in need of food donations

Special to the Sun

TRUCKEE and#8212; The Truckee Community Christmas effort is in its final week collecting food, toys and coats for our areaand#8217;s neediest families. While the toy drive is going strong, food donations are in short supply this year.

If possible, please remember your neighbors in need when shopping at the grocery store this week. Donated food items can be placed in collection barrels at the exit doors at Save Mart and Safeway in Truckee. Glenshire Clubhouse is also collecting food items.

If you have coats your family can part with, Church of the Mountains has a collection bin outside its double doors on Church St. in Downtown Truckee.

All Truckee Community Christmas efforts will conclude Thursday, Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 at Sierra Mountain Community Education Center. To volunteer to help wrap presents call Alissa Just at 530-587-6681, ext. 11.

The gifts for seniors effort is now largely wrapped up. For more info call the Truckee Chamber at 530-587-2757 or follow TCC on Facebook.
