Truckee contractor to offer energy upgrades through grant and loan program
TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Jeff Bender construction, Inc. is the first locally based contractor to be approved by the CHF Residential Energy Retrofit Program. The CHF Program provides financial assistance to California homeowners wanting to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. Qualifying homeowners can receive up to $1,250 in grant money and finance the remainder of all energy upgrade costs with an interest-free loan. Loan rates can vary between 0 and 3 percent, yet currently, Nevada County residents can seek to qualify for a zero percent loan.
However, the clock it ticking! The CHF Program will only last until February, 2012 or until all available funds have been allocated, whichever occurs first.
and#8220;The CHF Program coupled with our local TDPUD energy efficiency programs and rebates allow all qualifying households to start on the energy upgrade projects now,and#8221; said Bender, whose Northern California-based construction company specializes in all aspects of energy conservation and green building. and#8220;Homeowners interested in obtaining better energy efficiency and lowering their utility bills really need to act now if they want to take advantage of this program. Upgrades can be as simple as duct work sealing and window replacement to the more complex projects involving solar design and installation.and#8221;
The CHF Program is funded by a grant from the Energy Commission Energy Resources Conservation and Development Commission of the State of California as part of an award by the Federal Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
